FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS &

INFORMATION ABOUT THE DUNCAGE TOOL

1. What exactly is Duncage?

Duncage is a turn-based strategy board game for 2–5 players that captures the essence of a Dungeons & Dragons-style experience. Players take turns exploring the dungeon, collecting loot, unlocking chests with keys, challenging each other in arena duels, upgrading their gear at the blacksmith, and trading with the witch Erka. With a deck of 60 ability cards (37 of them unique), players can build diverse strategies to outplay their opponents and secure victory.

2. Is the game played individually or in teams?

Duncage can be played both individually or in teams. Teams are decided before the game starts and remain fixed until the end. A 2v2 format is supported.

In non-team games, up to 4 players actively play while the 5th player can take on the role of a dealer (game master), managing the flow of the game and observing freely. If no dedicated dealer is present, one of the players can take on this role. This does not create imbalance or provide any advantage.

3. How does the game progress?

The game is built around a turn-based system. Each player takes 1 main action and 1 secondary action per turn, encouraging strategic and tactical decision-making.

Chance-based outcomes are determined by dice rolls. The game features multiple victory objectives, and completing any one of them leads to victory. This allows players to pursue different playstyles and adds flexibility to each session.

4. Is this game beginner-friendly?

Although Duncage may seem complex at first, it is designed to be beginner-friendly. New players typically grasp the core mechanics within half a game to one full session.

5. How are the rules and game materials delivered?

After purchase, all rulebooks and supporting materials (including visual guides and PDFs) are sent to your email address. You can also request them anytime via duncaged@gmail.com.

Due to content protection policies, these files are only shared after purchase.

Physical components such as miniatures, dice, cards, dungeon maps,

and the game box are shipped to your address as a complete set.

6. Does the game require anything beyond its own components?

Due to the depth and richness of Duncage, tracking all in-game data manually can become complex. To enhance the experience, we developed a dedicated digital tool.

This tool allows players to easily track gold, potions, runes, keys, kill scores, equipment upgrades, loot items, current HP, boss states, and compact information panels for the two NPCs.

It is designed to be simple, efficient, and highly intuitive.

7. What are the requirements and advantages of this tool?

The Duncage Tool is a lightweight (~10 MB), browser-based application built in HTML. It runs smoothly even on very low-end laptops and works flawlessly on browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Once downloaded, it requires no internet connection and no installation. It is fully open-source and editable. While keyboard macros are available, they are entirely optional, as all functions can be performed with simple mouse clicks.

More importantly, this tool transforms the gameplay experience. Instead of slowing down the game with manual tracking, it keeps everything organized, fast, and visually clear. It allows players to focus on strategy, immersion,

and decision-making rather than bookkeeping.

This results in a significantly smoother, faster, and more enjoyable session overall.

8. Is it possible to play without the tool or a laptop?

Yes, absolutely. Players can print the score panel and track everything manually using pen and paper

(the printable files are available on our website).

However, manual tracking can slow down the game and reduce overall flow. That’s exactly why we created the digital tool to eliminate friction and keep the experience seamless.

For the best experience, we strongly recommend using the tool. This is why Duncage is best described as a hybrid board game, combining the tactile feel of physical gameplay with the convenience of digital support.
